Withdrawal of original statement

Following a meeting with Martin Tiplady, Director of Human Resources for the Metropolitan Police service, the Metropolitan Black Police Association are encouraged by discussions which clarified many points made in the Sunday Mirror article dated 11 th March 2007. As a result the Association withdraws its original statement and confirms its position as follows:

•  The Metropolitan Black Police Association will not disengage from Trident or any other operational or community activity.
•  Discussions between the MetBPA, the MPS and Metropolitan Police Authority will continue regarding this and other issues of diversity
•  A letter will be sent to the IPCC to invite further discussion and advice

The MetBPA will continue to contribute to the modernisation of the police service and the broader criminal justice system.
