Revival

The philosophy underpinning Revival is one of support and empowerment for the black community in the fight against guns, knives and other violent crime on the streets of our capital. Violent crime in the London is on the increase, with the majority of victims and perpetrators being young people under the age of twenty five. As Londoner's we all have a role to play in reducing violence, we all have a role to play in the support and nurture of our young people.

The 1 st October 2005 marks the launch of the Association's 'London Barbers & Hair Stylists Against Violence' initiative. Barbers and Hair Stylists are being called to contribute to keeping London safe from violent crime. Barbershops and Hair Salons are one of the major hubs of community life and information. Barbers and hair stylists are natural communicators and facilitators providing advice on everything from where to go for local entertainment to, which horse to back at the 2 o'clock at Haydock Park.

Barbers and Hair stylists are in a unique position to offer young people support, advice and information surrounding violent crime in their neighbourhoods. If you are a barber/hair stylist or you know of a stylist who would like to join the campaign, please email barbers@metbpa.com or call 0207 161 0941 to register.

The Association will be touring with their community bus throughout October, visiting London's inner city Boroughs including Lambeth, Southwark, Newham, Hackney, Haringey and Brent. The bus has conference room facilities, where members of the public will be invited to discuss issues affecting their neighbourhoods. Members of the Associations youth forum (YBPA, Young Black Positive Advocates) will also be in attendance to provide peer support for local youngsters.
